What data we hold

For each person or organisation we contact, we hold only:

We also keep a record of the emails we send, any reply you send us, and whether you have opted out.

We do not buy contact lists, and we do not collect sensitive data about you.

Where the data comes from

All contact details were collected from publicly available sources: websites, contact pages and published profiles. The specific source for your address is named in the email we send you.

Why we use it

To offer you a free copy of the book (in English, Yoruba or Hausa) and an optional affiliate code, and to follow up on any reply you send. That is the only purpose.

Lawful basis

We rely on legitimate interests (UK GDPR / EU GDPR Article 6(1)(f); Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, section 25).

Our balancing test, in short:

We keep a written legitimate interests assessment and can share it on request.

How long we keep it

If you do not reply, we delete your details no later than 12 months after our first email.

If you reply, we keep the correspondence for as long as we are in contact, and then for up to 12 months.

If you opt out, we keep only your email address, the date and the reason on a suppression list, so that we never contact you again. We keep that entry for as long as we do outreach.

Opting out

Reply "unsubscribe" to any of our emails, or write to letters@agentmail.to. We will honour your request within 10 business days, and usually much sooner. Your address goes on our suppression list, and we will not email you again.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your data. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Our email service provider (AgentMail) processes messages on our behalf so that they can be sent and received. Some processing may take place outside your country.

Your rights

Depending on where you are, you may have these rights:

How to use these rights: email letters@agentmail.to and say what you want. We may ask you to confirm that you control the address in question. We will reply within one month, or sooner where the law requires it.

Advertising and cookies

Advertising. We use, or may use, Google AdSense to show ads on this site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Where you have not consented, or where personalised ads are not allowed, Google may show non-personalised ads, which still use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how visitors arrive. It uses cookies or similar identifiers and reports aggregated statistics to us. You can block it with Google's browser add-on.

Your consent choices. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, advertising and analytics storage is off by default (Google Consent Mode) until you make a choice in our consent message, which is provided by a Google-certified consent management platform. You can accept, decline, or choose by purpose. Elsewhere, cookies are used as described above, and you can still opt out using the links here.

Changing your consent. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Privacy and cookie settings" link in the consent message or at the bottom of the page where it appears, by clearing this site's cookies in your browser (the message will then appear again), or by using the opt-out links above.

Changes

If we change this notice, we will update the effective date above.
